I am so glad that I listened when I heard that voice inside me say, which I know was the Lord, to write a book about my journey. It has not only taken my life in a whole new direction and made my little girl dream come true of winning an EMMY award, but it gave me my purpose in life which is to inspire people to overcome what ever life throws at them.
Not being a writer by trade made this project a very scary one to me when I first began it, but I found someone who worked with me to help me sort out my thoughts along the way once I started putting pen to paper or should I say, fingers to the keyboard. Although I wrote it all myself, I needed someone who had experience in this field to assist me in knowing what made for good reading and what was too much or too little information.
When writing your life story, having a second pair of eyes reading it helps give you feedback on what a reader needs to know or wants to know more about. So if you are feeling the fear, that’s OK. Do it anyway and find a partner to keep you on task and to cheer you on until you see your words “up in Light.”
I have also found that when I do my speaking events that people want to take a piece of me and my story home with them that day, especially autographed. Having my books for sale gives the audience that gratification that they can take home my book and read my words of wisdom and inspiration anytime they want to. They can refer back to it often and share it with others who were not at the event but they feel need to know my story. With out my books my spoken words at these inspirational events are lost forever in the wind and rest only in the memory of those who heard them. And we all know that people only remember less the 10% of what we hear.
So get your thoughts, words and stories written down in YOUR BOOK right away. There is no time to waste. Someone wants to hear your words and is willing to buy them. Give your audience want they want. It is about them, not you.
So begin today.
